Sree Narayana College for Women, Kollam, celebrated National Space Day through “Sky Scope: Build Your Own Telescope,” a hands-on telescope assembly workshop organized by the Department of Physics.

The programme was conducted in association with the Breakthrough Science Society, Kollam Chapter, on Tuesday, 18 August 2026 at 10:00 AM in the Seminar Hall.

The sessions were handled by Sajeev Varghese and P. N. Thankachan. Participants learned the basic principles of light, lenses and telescopes; assembled a telescope step by step; aligned and tested the optical system; and gained practical experience in using a telescope for exploring the night sky.

The workshop encouraged students to develop scientific curiosity, practical skills and a deeper appreciation of astronomy and the universe.
